‘Jurassic Park’ Screenwriter Flips Historic Montecito Estate to Olympic Champ

It’s officially a wrap! After barely a year of ownership, Hollywood screenwriter/director David Koepp — best-known for blockbuster films like “Jurassic Park” and “Spider-Man,” which have together grossed more than $6 billion worldwide — has already offloaded his century-old Monterey Colonial-style compound in Montecito’s coveted Hedgerow district.

Records show the new owners are retired Olympic figure skater and “Dancing with the Stars” alum Evan Lysacek, and his Thai heiress wife Dang Bodiratnangkura, who doled out $9.8 million for the place — or a whopping $1.8 million more than Koepp and his longtime wife Melissa paid for it a little over a year ago, in May 2021. Bodiratnangkura, who recently sold a $32 million Bel Air mansion to Opendoor CEO Eric Wu, has already put the Montecito pad up for lease at $65,0000/month.

Originally built during the Progressive Era, way back in 1900, the attractive white and blue-trimmed structure was given a contemporary remodel by previous owners in 2015, per the listing. In addition to a four-bedroom, five-bath main house, there’s also a detached three-bedroom, two-bath guest house boasting a living room and kitchen — for a total of seven bedrooms and seven baths in 5,388 square feet of living space.

As for the two-story main house, it’s fronted by an inviting wraparound porch topped by a vine-covered balcony. Inside, almost 4,000 square feet of updated interiors are highlighted by formal living and dining rooms, along with an eat-in kitchen outfitted with marble countertops and a pricey La Cornue range that sits adjacent to a casual dining area and fireside family room. Elsewhere is a private study, and an upstairs master suite featuring a light-filled bath equipped with a large soaking tub.

Other amenities include dual garages with room for five vehicles — one for the main house, and another serving the guesthouse and currently being used as a gym.
But the undeniable star of the show are the picturesque grounds, which span 1.23 acres and host manicured lawns and gardens, a bocce ball court, covered al fresco dining terrace, and newer heated pool and spa flanked by an open-air cabana sporting a fire-pit and built-in barbecue.
